Prunus depressa Sand Cherry
General
This low-growing, mat-forming, shrub native to northeastern rivers is effective in stabilizing sand and gravelly soils along watercourses and sand dunes. It is an excellent species for soil bioengineering products.
Plant Description
Sand cherry grows close to the ground, forming mats. Its leaves are long and narrow, and elliptical. Small, delicate white flowers with yellow centers bloom in the spring.
