General

Lurid sedge grows in clumps with light green, gently drooping leaves. This species does best in areas that remain moist throughout the year.

Plant Description

Grows in dense tufts. Stems are 3-angled and purple at the base. Flowers are green and at the ends of the stems. Seeds (achenes) are inside ovate perigynia, which are clumped together on spikes that look somewhat like elongated sweetgum seed balls. Leaves are flat, higher than stems, and about 7mm wide.
