Ammophila breviligulata American Beachgrass
General
This species is an excellent choice for planting in open areas where coarse, well-drained soils need stabilization, especially dunes. It forms a robust rhizome that reaches deep into dune soils and sprouts new plants. It also deals well with sand accretion, growing taller as the sand around the plant builds. Ammophila comes from the Greek for “sand-loving.”
